My Backpack Project

If I had to pack my important stuff or what I need to escape my town before a hurricane started, I  would pack the things that are important, make me feel safe, and the things that I would not want to leave behind. The things that are important to me are my ancestor’s jewelry, my clothing,  my books, my headphones, my photos of friends and family, my gifts, and my electronics. If I had these things with me I would be able to leave my home to get away from a hurricane, just like Reesie in the book called Finding Someplace. I liked the book because it had fake characters, but the hurricane was a a real disaster that happened in the past. The hurricane’s name is Hurricane Katrina. I hope you read this book. But also we did an activity. We had think of who is the hero of the story. I chose the main character’s brother. It made us think a lot.

Camp Kirkwood Field Trip

Everyone was so excited to go to camp Kirkwood! We were all packed and ready to go. We had know idea what activities we were going to do. I was excited to be away from my annoying brother, he also was so excited for me to go somewhere else that he was mad when he heard that on the first I will be back. It’s going to be a great two days/nights.

It is time to get ready to learn the basic rules of the camp. How does this camp operate? What activities  are there? Who works at the camp?Where is the camp is located? How many cabins are there? After the information one of our teachers explained what was going to happen next. “Advisories  Donnelly, Willam, and two students from Harris. You are in cabin two.” There are eight cabins. Cabins one-four are the girl cabins while cabins five-eight are boy cabins. The girls on the east side of the campus and the boys on the west side. When we got to the cabin with all our stuff. We did what everyone does during the summer when they go to camp seafare, seagull, and/or chiro unpack. Everyone is so hungry lest go grab some lunch.

Yum! What’s for lunch? There wasn’t much for lunch. There was water (need to stay hydrated), salad, apples, and tons of different types of chips. In this picture we’re in the dining hall which is in the middle of the campus. The tables are setup for the advisories, but there are only eight tables and nine advisories. What did we do? Well we split up one of the advisories. What activities are we doing today?

Is that a blob?  No, that’s a Karoo jump. It’s was sooo fun. We just kept bouncing higher and higher. We also kept sliding down the edge and getting all sandy. Earlier we found out what group we were going to be in. There were six groups. We were all going to do the same activities just in different orders. I was in group six. We also did races on the Karoo jump. I sense some water near by. Where is it coming from?

Is it pool time? Yup! Before we could swim in the pool we had to take a swim test. To take the swim test we had to jump in the deep end and freestyle swim to the other end of the pool. We had to go underwater to go under a rope and if we make it to the other side, the lifeguards would decide if we needed a life jacket or we could swim without one. I passed, so I could swim without a life jacket 😃!

It was a lot of fun. We jumped off the “diving boards” by the way they are really just mats, played football, rolled off of the floats, and made a big line to all jump in the water at the same time. My favorite activity was football because sometimes we would bump into one another and wrestle with the ball. Me and my friends had a lot of fun playing together!

What fun!

There are more fun activities we did. We did the pool twice, the kangar jump twice, three team building activities: Hulu  Lu  hoops, running, and compass, the V swing, the zip line, playing Gaga  and getting to meet a pig named Bubbles and she can play soccer, canoeing, board and card games, and forest ecology. The first night we watched a movie and on the second night we got to roast marshmallows. It was awesome. You can look up camp Kirkwood and find pictures of the rest of the camp.
