Tennis

Tennis is a fun sport. For me the scoring is just… strange. In tennis there are a few types of shots and they are backhand (I’m not good at it), forehand, volley, overhand, serve, half-volley, drop shot and lob. For tennis all you need is a net, a racket, a ball and maybe a person. If you’re playing alone for me and other people that I know would have our opponent be a wall. I used to play tennis after school on Fridays at the Hope Valley Country Club in my neighborhood. I would do it with some of my friends. In the summer of 2023 me, two of my friends and another girl that we met all had fun at Duke to play tennis. I’ve been playing tennis since I was six I think. Here are the pictures of the places:

Cooking

Cooking is one of my hobbies. I love to cook. One morning in the summer last year I made breakfast for my parents and me out of one of my cookbooks. I think starting in December after Christmas my mom would order two different meals from fresh market for me to cook for dinner twice a week. Last night my dad made one of my recipes that had noodles, a white creamy sauce, broccoli and chicken. Tonight he’s going to make the other one. If you order for five weeks straight so you would have ordered ten meals then you would get three extra boxes to give to friends and family. I cook, my dad cooks, my mom cooks and my brother is just the taste tester. I’ve been cooking since I was eight. I’ve enjoyed it a lot. Here are some recipes that I have made:

History class

Every afternoon noon when I have history we start with a song that connects to what we are doing today. While me and my classmates are listening to that we are also completing the firecracker of the day and writing down are homework. Then our teacher turns off the music and asks us what the name of the song/ song writer is. Then we tell him what we wrote down for the answer to the question. On the first day of the week when we have history and the last day we would watch the WEEK IN WRAP (WIWR). Then we will go straight into whatever we are doing today. Near the end of class sometimes we would have time to do our homework or no time. Then we leave and head to are next class or break.

Comic – Fire, Water, Truth and Falsehood

For awhile my class and I have been working on comics. We all got to choose our own and couldn’t do the same one as someone else. We were able to choose our story from a book called Wisdom Tales by Heather Forest. The wisdom tale that I have chosen is called Fire, Water, Truth and Falsehood from Africa. Here is my comic:

Tremont Hotel/Camp Tremont History in y=Years

Lets learn  the history of this odd hotel.

1930:  In the year of 1930 a family lived on a farm together. The son’s name was Sam Tremont, he wanted to be an inventor when he grew up. He had a sister named Daisy Tremont, that was going tind the farm, while her brother time traveled to different times. Their father Mr. Tremont every single day just sat in the same rocking chair and only left it on important matters or to eat with his family. Mr. Tremont’s wife Grace Tremont died when her children were very young. One day Mr. Tremont signed a piece of paper that would let him and his family live and stay in their home but Judge Walker would get to keep the springs and the farmland. Then soon after the sheriff came and said that the family had forty eight hours to pack up and leave the property or something terrible would happen. One of Judge Walker’s friends actually had the real document that the family signed. The men tricked the family with the fake document and the family left to live in a small house in the swamp.

1947: Three years after the Tremont Hotel opened to the public Daisy Tremont was working there as a maid with the help of her daughter Ruby. The judge had turned that family’s farm home into a hotel. Daisy was working there because she always felt her mother’s presence around her like a snug warm coat. Ruby knew that the judge was up to something but she didn’t know what. Then she found out that the judge had stolen a bunch of money and had hid it downstairs in the basement. The money that he stole was what the sheriff was looking for. The sheriff is a very good friend of the judge. Ruby had a whole speech for the judge. The judge was just about to do something horrible to her but instead a vas shattered on top of the judge. Ruby ran outside of room 205 to tell her mother what had happened. The judge was killed by his own wife Mrs. Walker. But she didn’t pick up the vas and smash it on her husband’s head, she said that it just appeared in her hand and Daisy believed that it was her mother’s spirit saving her granddaughter’s life.

1990: In the summer of 1990 three campers named Savanna Dillon, Benet, but he goes by Ben Campbell, and Jess Dunn were all friends, well not all were friends. Jess hated Savanna. Jess really liked Ben but she thought that Savanna was always in the way. Jess acts like she’s the queen of the camp. One night after the dance and camp fire that would end the summer of the camp Jess dared Savanna to sleep in the basement with the ghosts. Ben, her best friend, told her not to listen to Jess, but Savanna did it anyway. Ben then found her in the basement and they shared ghost stories until they heard a noise. Ben ran thinking that Savanna had followed him but she didn’t, she stayed. The  next morning the campers, junior counselors, staff, and police started search parties for her. When they couldn’t find her they all came up with the conclusion that she was eaten by Moss Man, a legend.

Google Earth

1960: There was a terrible storm called the Great Storm of 1960 in Louisiana. Some people left and went somewhere else and others stayed. And one of the people that stayed at the Tremont hotel was Savanna! Apparently she traveled from 1990 to 1960. How did she time travel? Well after Ben ran off Savanna went over to one of the shelves and saw a door to a hidden bunker. She went down a long tunnel and ended up in a small room. There was a radio in that room and she turned one of the nobbs. She went down another tunnel and found stairs at the end. She opened the hatch and felt a shock as she was climbing out. Then she ran towards the hotel and has been in the 1960’s ever since.

1962: Two years after the storm there was a newspaper about the family that lived and worked at the hotel with Savanna in it. Savanna was adopted. As the year went by, Savanna started leaving the year of 1962 to time travel to 2020, 1947, 1930, and 2024 because she was helping some friends out. Her friends’ names are Griffin and Harper but soon later she became friends with Griffin’s siblings Zoaie and Wyatt and Harper’s sibling Toafer. They had some crazy adventures.

2024: In the future the hotel was going to burn down starting with room 205, Griffin’s mother will be a ghost, Griffin and Harper wouldn’t be friends anymore, Toafer would have died, the two families would be divided, Griffin would never be able to attend school, and everyone would blame Griffin for everything. But then that future changed a little bit though. Griffin’s mom would still be a ghost, Toafer would be alive, the families wouldn’t be apart, but Griffin would have died. Then all that changed again. Everyone would be alive, everyone would be friends, Griffin would still be working and studying at school, and Griffin and Harper would be boyfriend and girlfriend.

How I found this information, these photos, and more about these people: Now I know all of this information from a tv show not the internet. I know it sounds crazy, a show that is true. We all know that ghosts aren’t real but it’s probably possible. I mean there are people trying to create flying cars. But I tried to figure out if these people are real or if they are not. I used this app called Google Earth and tried to figure out if the Tremont really exists and apparently it does. The Tremont is in Louisiana. I don’t know who the owner (s) is/are. I wish that I could go to Louisiana. I also found these photos on Google Earth. Savanna is adventurous and a prankster. Ben is also a prankster and loves to play on his guitar. Jess likes to look fancy and probably wants to be queen of the world one day. Griffin also plays the guitar and hates Louisiana. Harper has the love of art and adventure. Toafer likes to watch ‘scary movies’ and is amazing at creating traps. Zoaie and Wyatt are twins and get along just fine, but sometimes they fight. Sara, Griffin and the twins’ mother likes to be organized and also hates Louisiana. Ben’s dad likes work and when his son doesn’t make a mistake. Harper and Toafer’s father died when Toafer was three and Harper was four.

Why the hotel closed: Soon after Savanna ‘disappeared’ the reason why the hotel is so popular, famous springs dried up. No one wanted to go back to a hotel where there were no springs to play in. No one has been there in years. The house had wood on top of the windows, the wood looked nasty and rotten, and the building could possibly be haunted by ghosts. And there probably were ghosts haunting that hotel. And if there were I’m guessing their names are Grace Tremont and Judge Walker.  And now the hotel looks like this:

My favorite book series

Hello it’s Lila. And today I’m going to be talking about my two favorite book series. The first one is the tale of magic series and the second one is the land of stories series. There are three books in the first series and six books in the second series.

Taken by me

Her is a summary of the first book in the first series:  Thirteen-year-old Bristol Evergreen has always known she was destined to do amazing things but only if she can survive the Southern Kingdom. Her only escape are books, but since it’s illegal for women to read in her kingdom, she has to find creative ways to take them. Working as a maid at her town’s (called Chariot Hills) library gives her the perfect excuse to be near them and allows her to sneak a few of them home when no one is looking. But one day Bristol uncovers a secret area of the library and finds a book called The truth about magic that changed her life forever. Magic is despised and hated throughout the world. Bristol is well aware of the severe consequences the book may bring, but her curiosity gets the best of her. By reading some of the text aloud, strange things begin to happen and Bristol discovers that she can do magic. And the more she practices it, the harder it becomes to hide. After being caught and put in jail, Bristol is saved by a mysterious woman named Madame Weatherberry. The woman takes Bristol to her Academy of Magic and teaches her to become a fairy. While Bristol studies magic and makes friends with the other students, Madame Weatherberry is suddenly called away on important matters. When she doesn’t return, Brystal and her friends work together to find and save their teacher. Along the way, the students discover that Madame Weatherberry built the academy and are not what they seem, and they come face to face with a  plot that puts the fate of the world, and the fate of magic itself, in grave danger. In the end Bristol becomes the fairy godmother, her friends and her have saved the world from the Northern Conflict, and everyone loves magic.

Hers a summary of the next book: Brystal and her friends have saved the world from the evil Snow Queen and worldwide people love magic and relie on it. However, when a mysterious new witch arrives at the academy, the celebrations are cut short. As the witch begins recruiting fairies into her school of witchcraft, it becomes clear she has dark plans. And soon Brystal’s friend Lucy becomes part of a plot against mankind. Elsewhere, the peace is on the edge of shattering. Anger has spread throughout the kingdoms to make magic not legal. And, a dangerous and centuries-old clan known as the Righteous Brotherhood has come back, with one goal in mind: to destroy all magical life forever…starting with Bristol. In the end Bristol dies including that witch named Mistress Mara. But they’re not dead yet. They end up in the world between life and the unknown. The world has trees everywhere with names of people and clocks. In that world the sky looks like the universe with plants, stars, galaxies, and more. Mara apologizes and tells her a secret. They both meet death and Bristol is sent back to the world of the living and Mara and her father walk together into the darkness.

Now I will give you the summary of the last book in the series: Bristol Evergreen is running out of time. It’s been almost a year since she made a deal with Death to find and destroy the Immortal in exchange for her life. But she still hasn’t found a single clue about who or where this Immortal is. To make things worse, something dark and horrible has risen from deep within the earth, threatening life as we know it. To stop this new evil, the fairies and witches must work with all the kingdoms and territories, including the Righteous Brotherhood and their Army of the Dead. But is the threat more familiar than they expected? And why are an unknown group of Sorcerers convinced that Xanthous Hayfield is connected to it? In the end the bad guys have been caught and someone named Berrie and a princess become the first queen and king of the Charming Kingdom.

I think you’re wondering why I’m starting with this book series than the other one. Let me give you a few minor details before we move on to the next series. Bristol has a mother, a father who everyone calls Justice Evergreen, and two older brothers. The oldest is Brooks and the youngest is Berrie. In the second book Berrie gets married to princess Penny Charming. Penny has a cousin named prince Gallivant, or Seven. Seven has a grandfather named king champion the fourteenth. The king has a son named max or maximum. Max has five sons named Triumph, Conquer, Victory, Score, and Marvel. Seven is apparently the Righteous Brotherhood king. Madam Weatherberry is the snow queen, Lucy is Mother Goose, and Bristol is the fairy godmother but you already know that but she is also the main characters grandmother in the next series.  All the other fairies have the same names as in the next series. Xanothous is the demon king, Death is a person, Mara is Death’s daughter, Immortala is the immortal, and rider is the son of the caretaker supreme. Now let’s move on to the next book series.

Taken by me

Let me tell you the summary of the first book: When the twins’ grandmother gives them a book called the  treasury of fairy-tales, they have no idea about a land beyond all imagination: the Land of Stories, where fairy tales are real. But as Alex and Conner soon discover, the stories they know so well haven’t ended in this magical land—Goldilocks is now a wanted fugitive, Red Riding Hood has her own kingdom, and Queen Cinderella is about to become a mother! The twins know they must get back home somehow. But with the infamous Evil Queen hot on their trail, will they ever find the way? In the end they find out that their grandmother is a fairy and is known as the fairy godmother, their father is from the land of stories, and they have to go home and keep the fairy tale world a secret so bad people don’t find it and try to conquer it.

Summary of book two: The Land of Stories is no longer the joyful world Alex and Conner Bailey remember from their Wishing Spell adventure: The evil Enchantress, who cursed Sleeping Beauty, is back with a revenge, and the fairy-tale world lives in fear. When the Enchantress’s evil reach extends even to Alex and Conner’s world—and their mother is kidnapped!—they must not follow their grandmother’s orders and find their own way into the Land of Stories to rescue her. With a little help from a reluctant Queen Red Riding Hood, the run away outlaws Goldilocks and Jack, and their old amphibian friend, Froggy, can Alex and Conner save their mother and the fairy-tale world from the greatest threat it’s ever faced? In the end Alex defeats the enchantress, Bob someone who works at the hospital with the twins mom proposes to her, they get married, and Alex decides to stay in the fairy tale world and have her grandmother train her how to use her magic.

Summary of book three were half way there: Conner Bailey thinks his fairy-tale adventures are behind him—until he discovers a mysterious clue left by the famous Brothers Grimm.  With help from his classmate Bree and the outstanding Mother Goose, Conner sets off on a mission across Europe to open a two-hundred-year-old portal with the help of a new friend during their journey. Meanwhile, Alex Bailey is training to become the next Fairy Godmother… but her attempts at granting wishes never go as planned. Will she ever be truly ready to lead the Fairy Council? When all signs point to disaster for the Land of Stories, Conner and Alex must join forces with their friends and enemies to save the day. But nothing can prepare them for the coming battle…or for the secret that will change the twins’ lives forever. In the end Alex, Conner, and their friends have defeated the Grand Armée but some of them ran away, General Marquis was killed by the masked man, the masked man has stolen a potion, he took off his mask and Alex thought that he was her father, and the fairy godmother was dead by killing a dragon.

Summary of book four: The Masked Man is on the loose in the Land of Stories, and it’s up to Alex and Conner Bailey to stop him…except Alex was  thrown off the Fairy Council, and no one will believe her that he is her father and that they’re is danger. With only the help of their odd group of Goldilocks, Jack, Red Riding Hood, and Mother Goose and her gander, Lester, the Bailey twins discover the Masked Man’s secret plan: He owns a powerful magic potion that turns every book it touches into a portal, and he is recruiting an army of literature’s greatest villains! So begins a race through the magical Land of Oz, the fantastical world of Neverland, the madness of Wonderland, and beyond. Can Alex and Conner catch up to the Masked Man, or will they be one step behind until it’s too late? In the end the masked man is done completing his army, the fairy council is as still and stiff as stone, and Alex and Conner go into a portal that will take them to the other world were they will create their own army.

Summary of book five: The Masked Man has captured all the royal families from the Land of Stories with the help of his army of literature’s greatest villains, including the Wicked Witch of the West, the Queen of Hearts, and Captain Hook. With his horrible plan finally in motion, he is eager to destroy the families and take his place as emperor. Alex and Conner know they are no match against the Masked Man’s army of powerful villains, but they realize they may be in ownership of the greatest weapon of all: their own imaginations! So begins the twins’ journey into Conner’s very own stories to gather an army of pirates, cyborgs, superheroes, and mummies as they put together for the ultimate fight against the Masked Man. Meanwhile, an even more dangerous plan is brewing—one that could change the fates of both the fairy-tale world and the Otherworld forever. In the end Alex, Conner, their mother, Charlotte, their stepfather, Bob, and their friends have completed their army, Alex has been cursed by Froggy’s ex-girlfriend, Morina, they go into Bree’s short story, the masked man, Alex’s and Conner’s uncle Lyord is dead, they find out that Conner’s and Bree’s new friend on their journey around Europe is Alex’s and Conner’s cousin, Goldilocks and Jack have a son named Hero, and that Alex has disappeared.

Summary of book six we are on the last book: Alex and Conner’s biggest fear has come true. The Land of Stories fairy-tale characters—both heroes and villains—are no longer living in their world! With horrible plans being put into motion by Morina, the Wicked Witch of the West, the Queen of Hearts, Captain Hook, and the rest of their evil literary army, Conner doesn’t think the situation can get any worse. That is, until Alex goes missing! While bad things brew, Conner and his friends will have to fight their biggest battle yet. But without Alex by his side, Conner doesn’t know how he will win the war and keep everyone he loves safe. Can Conner find Alex before it’s too late? And can the twins restore order between the human and fairy-tale worlds? In the end the literary army and the witches are defeated, Conner has broken the curse off of his sister, Alex and Conner gives  president Walker a book with the portal inside, and every thing is over. The war took place in New York.

Sixty five years later sometime before his and his sisters eightieth birthday Conner finds his books about his and sisters adventures but from his perspective. He reads them to try to remember his sister. On the twins birthday people who love Conner’s books especially the portopia series gather at a library to ask him questions. Sometime later two of Conner’s three kids have a conversation about their dad. They think that they should move there father into an apartment. While they are having that conversation Charlie one of the adults daughter is sitting on the steps and listening. Later Charlie walks over to her grandfather’s house. They have a conversation and then Conner tells Charlie to leave because his sister is almost to his house to pick him up. Alex then appears and talks to her brother and then they disappear. Charlie searches for her grandfather and his sister but she can’t find them. She then goes to the attic and finds a book labeled the land of stories on the ground. I don’t know. Maybe she goes into the book and theirs a situation going on in the fairy tale world. Maybe she ends up in the dwarf Forest like Alex and Conner during their first time in the fairy tale world.

Now I will explain who is who and why I started with one series than the other. Alex and Conner’s grandmother is Bristol. Bree is related to the Brothers Grimm and the Sisters Grimm. Alex and Conner’s fathers name is John and he died in a car crash days before the twins eleventh birthday. The enchantress’s name is Ezmia and the evil queen’s name is Evly. There is a group of prince’s who call themselves the four charming brothers and they are all descendants from queen Penny and king Barrie which means that the twins and their cousin Emmerich are related to royalty. Emmerich’s mother’s name is Little Bo Peep. Everyone is friends with a witch named Hagetta the sister of Hagnetha. And that is all and thank you for reading my blog.

Basketball

Hello everyone. I’m going to be talking about my favorite sport called basketball. Basketball is so much fun…at least I think so! During the winter, a few of my friends and I, and other kids that we don’t know play basketball on a team. My dad is the coach of our team and his assistant is my friend Anya’s dad or Louisa’s dad. This year my dad is going to be the assistant while one of my friends’ dad is going to be the coach. In basketball there are three ways to score. There’s the free throw that’s worth one point, a field goal that’s worth two points, and last but not least there’s the three pointer, which is worth three points. We practice every Thursday and play against another team on Saturday. During our lessons we learn how to dribble, shoot, block shots, pass, and more. We always play games near the end of practice. We play Knock out, we scrimmage, and play dribble Knock out.

My favorite basketball team is UNC! Their mascot is Rameses and they’re called the Carolina Tar Heels! Last summer at basketball camp I got to meet in person Caleb Love, who is now playing for Arizona. This year at a restaurant that one of my cousins works at is called Town Hall. During the summer we only get to see him work. I got to meet a couple of the Tar Heels newest members. I got to meet Armando Bacot, Arja Davis, and Elliot Cadeau. I also got to meet some Tar Heel football players. My favorite Tar Heel player is Armando because I like his hair styles sometimes he wore is hair as a unicorn horn.

History of Halloween

Hello everyone. Are you ready to learn about the history of Halloween? Okay then, let’s learn history.

https://unsplash.com/

             Samhain

Let’s go back through history. Halloween dates back to the ancient Celtic  festival of Samhain. Samhain in the Irish language means November.  The Celtic festival of Samhain was mostly celebrated in Ireland, the United Kingdom, and northern France. They celebrated their new year on November the first. Their new year marked the end of summer. It was the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that was often associated with human death. Celts believed that on Samhain the ghosts of the dead returned to earth on October the thirty first. All Saints’ Day or all-hallowmas merged into Halloween by the end of the fifteenth century and became a blend of sacred and secular celebrations that remained especially strong in Britain, Ireland, and Scotland.

https://unsplash.com/

Trick-or-treating

On Halloween poor children would visit wealthier homes asking for gifts such as food, money, and ale. In the eighteen hundreds Halloween tricks became a common practice. Children would go “guising” going house to house on Halloween to put on small performances to be rewarded with food.

https://unsplash.com/

 Masks and costumes

On Halloween people wore masks and costumes to disguise themselves from the ghosts, fairies, and demons that they thought roamed on Halloween night. That is why we dress up.

https://unsplash.com/

Why we carve pumpkins

In the eighteen hundreds in Ireland people would carve vegetables into scary faces to scare off spirits. They would usually use turnips, potatoes, or beets. The carved vegetables were used to hold candles because lanterns were too expensive for most people. In the eighteen hundreds many Scots and Irish people immigrated to get away from the famine to the US bringing their Halloween traditions with them. When the Scots and Irish came to America they realized that pumpkins and groves were better for carving into lanterns. That’s why we have Jack-o-lanterns till this day.

Poisoned candy

The most infamous case took place on October the thirty first, nineteen seventy four. The case is at least forty nine years old. A Texas man named Ronald O’Bryan gave cyanide-laced pixie sticks to five children, including his son. The other children never ate the candy, but Ronald’s son, Timothy, did and died soon after. This case has still not been solved. It’s possible that Ronald put poison on the candy or the company that made the candy put poison on the candy.

Halloween Movies

Halloween movies have a long history of being box office hits. A classic Halloween movie the “Halloween” franchise, based off of a nineteen seventy eight film directed by John Carpenter. The stars names are Donald Pleasance, Nick Castle, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Tony Moran. In “Halloween,” a boy named Michael Myers murders his sister and is committed to jail. But he escapes on Halloween night and to seek out his old home, and a new target. It’s a direct sequel to that, “Halloween Kills,” was release in two thousand twenty one. And a sequel to that, “Halloween Ends,” was released in two thousand twenty two. To the classic horror film down to its spooky soundtrack, “Halloween” inspired other iconic “slasher films” like “Scream,” “Nightmare on Elm Street,” and “Friday the Thirteenth.” More family-friendly movies include “Hocus-pocus,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “Beetlejuice,” and “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

Who was I for Halloween?

On October the thirty first, two thousand twenty three I was Zelda. If you don’t know who Zelda is or you do I’ll just give you guys a recap about her. Zelda is a video game character from Zelda Breath of the Wild (the first game in the series) and Zelda Tears of the Kingdom (the second game in the series and it just came out). Zelda is the princess of Hyrule. She has a protector or a friend  named Link. In Breath of the Wild Link has to make new friends and become a worrier. When he wakes up inside a shrine and he doesn’t remember who he is or anything about his past. So he goes on an adventure and at the very end of the story he has to fight Calamity Ganon. When he defeats him he saves the princess and happily ever after. But no! There is no happily ever after yet. In Tears of the Kingdom Link and Zelda go under Hyrule castle and find the body of  Ganon Dwarf with a hand that’s not the body’s hand attached to the body. Then the hand detaches itself from the body and falls onto the floor. Then Zelda notices a stone and picks it up. It almost looks like a spiral. Then Ganon Dwarf comes back to life. Then he uses his powers to make the castle go up into the sky. Then Ganon Dwarf falls into the infinite darkness and the princess does to. Link try’s to save her, but then she turns into a star and disappears. Right before Link was going to fall into the darkness a hand saves him. Link then wakes up in another shrine this time it looks like half of an egg shell. When he wakes up he does remember everything about him. He realizes that he is on a sky island and he gets to meet the spirit of King Raru the first king of Hyrule. They work together and Link falls down from the sky with his old glider and lands back on solid ground. While that all happens to Link, Zelda finds herself in the past. She meets King Raru and Queen Sonia, Raru’s wife. Zelda is decedents from them. Then Zelda swallows the stone that she found under the castle and turns into a dragon. At the end of the game Link has to fight Ganon Dwarf and after he almost defeats him Link has to ride on the princess and fight Ganon Dwarf since he turns into a dragon. Then in the end Link saves the fallen princess and happily ever after. The end.

The schedule at school

If we have school on Halloween or not we will have a Halloween celebration. If the day that we are celebrating Halloween is not a 3c nor a 3a, then we will have to change the day to one of those days. We have our first two classes, then brake/snack, next is the Photo Booth for seventh and eighth graders and trick-or-treat but I only got two pieces of candy at school, then we have lunch, then reassess, then our last two classes, and lastly during X period we can do our homework, go trick-or-treating, fifth and sixth grade Photo Booth, or Halloween games and crafts. During X period I worked on my stop motion project. It’s for tech. And then it’s time to go to car pool or extend day.

What costumes did I see at school and Halloween night? What is my favorite candy?

Let’s talk about the other costumes that I saw at school first. My friend named Alice was dressed up as the Alice from Alice and Wonder Land. There were a bunch of people dressed up as bananas. A few of my friends were dressed up as preppy cow girls and they’re a preppy cow. My friend named Louisa was dressed up as one of Taylor Swift’s albums, 1989. Some people were dressed up as zombies and animals. Some people were dressed as characters from books, movies, shows, and/or video games. On Halloween night most of the people who go to DA were trick-or-treating on saint Marcs the most popular place to go trick-or-treating. Some people were dinosaurs, Elsa, unicorns, clowns, among us characters, and ect. It was the best Halloween ever! My friends and I had a blast but sometimes we would split up and some people went past the cone line but I’m glad that I saw them at school the next day. What’s my favorite candy? I don’t know. But my favorite types of candies are chocolate candies. Thanks for listening about the history of Halloween and what has happened recently.

My Backpack Project

Taken by me
Taken by me
Taken by me

If I had to pack my important stuff or what I need to escape my town before a hurricane started, I  would pack the things that are important, make me feel safe, and the things that I would not want to leave behind. The things that are important to me are my ancestor’s jewelry, my clothing,  my books, my headphones, my photos of friends and family, my gifts, and my electronics. If I had these things with me I would be able to leave my home to get away from a hurricane, just like Reesie in the book called Finding Someplace. I liked the book because it had fake characters, but the hurricane was a a real disaster that happened in the past. The hurricane’s name is Hurricane Katrina. I hope you read this book. But also we did an activity. We had think of who is the hero of the story. I chose the main character’s brother. It made us think a lot.

Camp Kirkwood Field Trip

Everyone was so excited to go to camp Kirkwood! We were all packed and ready to go. We had know idea what activities we were going to do. I was excited to be away from my annoying brother, he also was so excited for me to go somewhere else that he was mad when he heard that on the first I will be back. It’s going to be a great two days/nights.

It is time to get ready to learn the basic rules of the camp. How does this camp operate? What activities  are there? Who works at the camp?Where is the camp is located? How many cabins are there? After the information one of our teachers explained what was going to happen next. “Advisories  Donnelly, Willam, and two students from Harris. You are in cabin two.” There are eight cabins. Cabins one-four are the girl cabins while cabins five-eight are boy cabins. The girls on the east side of the campus and the boys on the west side. When we got to the cabin with all our stuff. We did what everyone does during the summer when they go to camp seafare, seagull, and/or chiro unpack. Everyone is so hungry lest go grab some lunch.

Yum! What’s for lunch? There wasn’t much for lunch. There was water (need to stay hydrated), salad, apples, and tons of different types of chips. In this picture we’re in the dining hall which is in the middle of the campus. The tables are setup for the advisories, but there are only eight tables and nine advisories. What did we do? Well we split up one of the advisories. What activities are we doing today?

Is that a blob?  No, that’s a Karoo jump. It’s was sooo fun. We just kept bouncing higher and higher. We also kept sliding down the edge and getting all sandy. Earlier we found out what group we were going to be in. There were six groups. We were all going to do the same activities just in different orders. I was in group six. We also did races on the Karoo jump. I sense some water near by. Where is it coming from?

Is it pool time? Yup! Before we could swim in the pool we had to take a swim test. To take the swim test we had to jump in the deep end and freestyle swim to the other end of the pool. We had to go underwater to go under a rope and if we make it to the other side, the lifeguards would decide if we needed a life jacket or we could swim without one. I passed, so I could swim without a life jacket 😃!

It was a lot of fun. We jumped off the “diving boards” by the way they are really just mats, played football, rolled off of the floats, and made a big line to all jump in the water at the same time. My favorite activity was football because sometimes we would bump into one another and wrestle with the ball. Me and my friends had a lot of fun playing together!

What fun!

There are more fun activities we did. We did the pool twice, the kangar jump twice, three team building activities: Hulu  Lu  hoops, running, and compass, the V swing, the zip line, playing Gaga  and getting to meet a pig named Bubbles and she can play soccer, canoeing, board and card games, and forest ecology. The first night we watched a movie and on the second night we got to roast marshmallows. It was awesome. You can look up camp Kirkwood and find pictures of the rest of the camp.
